“Nah. That’s not the reason why Celtic are nine points clear” – Rangers fan’s fantasy reason for Gio collapse rubbished by Hugh Keevins

Injuries. No money spent. Gio is too wee.

All the excuses under the sun (except that last one) have been offered as a reason for the Ibrox club’s collapse to Celtic over the last twelve months.

But instead of facing the real issues head on, the Rangers fans want to search for excuses to hide from the fact that they are just not as good as they think they are.

We have been saying it for months. Even through their Europa League run, they rode their luck.

But now that their luck has finally run out, let’s trot out the excuses.

Like this one Gordon Duncan read out on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, “John Murphy is on. He says I’m a 40 year listener to Clyde. A very public incident stuck in my head for a year. Gio was just in the door, training ground, Roy MacKaay shouts at Ryan Kent, ‘You’re not a show pony, save your tricks for the circus.’ I’m convinced that set the tone with the players.”

Keevins was having none of it and said, “Nah. It’s a nice way to hit back but that’s not the reason why Rangers were on top of the league when Giovanni came in and Celtic won the title.

That’s not the reason why Celtic are nine points clear. That’s not the reason why Liverpool scored seven at Ibrox.

“You know, you can throw it in, but it is that, a throwaway line.”

And that is the issue with them. Instead of asking why no money was spent, why the players bottle it when it comes to playing us, why they struggle to beat so called ‘lesser’ teams, they want to come up with some made up nonsense from a year ago.

It’s no wonder their other club died.
