“Let’s be honest here” – BBC Hearts columnist makes Celtic claim that serves a dose of harsh reality to Ibrox

Match Day Celtic Park

Celtic are streets ahead of anyone else in the league.

As a Celtic fan, it’s easy for me to say that. I can make statements like that with green tinted specs on and no one can change my mind.

But when a fan of another team says it AND they work for the BBC as a columnist, you now know that others across the city need to it up and take notice.

And it was a nice dose of refreshing honesty from Hearts fan and podcaster, Greg Playfair, that should send a hard dose of reality to those fans on the south side of Glasgow.

Writing on the BBC website, Playfair said, “Let’s be honest here, this Celtic team are one of the best sides in the last 20 years of Scottish football and are always going to be the favourites in any domestic clash.

Even if Hearts had their full-strength side available instead of eight regulars on the treatment table, I don’t think the outcome would have been different.

And Rangers have found that as well. No matter how well they have played against us, they still lacked the quality to get the result that they needed. Twice.

In must win games, we strolled to the finishing line without the Ibrox outfit ever really threatening us or us getting out of second gear.

This should serve as a warning to the Ibrox fans. That and we are only just getting started under Ange.
