“I’m not gonna be given three years to win a trophy” – Postecoglou’s brilliant thinly veiled Gerrard swipe

As Ange Postecoglou continues the rebuilding job at Celtic Park, the Hoops gaffer, so far, has done an excellent job so far leading he team to European football after Christmas, a major domestic final AND has his team still within touching distance at the top of the league.

If you were to ask any Celtic fan their expectations of the season ahead prior to Ange taking over, you would have been hard pressed to find anyone that would have been willing to bet this scenario playing out.

In fact, many Hoops supporters had written this year off as a building year and didn’t really expect much in terms of silverware.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Ange was asked if he was planning ahead for the long term but also ensuring success for the short, Ange’s answer was first class with a thinly veiled dig at former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard when he said, “That’s the job. You take on the role of manager at this football club, you know you’re not gonna be given three years to win a trophy. You’ve got to do that as soon as you arrive and at the same time, build.”

And the Celtic fans loved it:
