These kinds of stories always come up when Celtic are doing well, don’t they?
With the league title almost wrapped up and a treble on the horizon, all is looking good at the club as Ange Postecoglou tightens his grip on Scottish football.
But we can’t have too much good news about the club now can we? There needs to be something negative out there and, of course, it has been provided by Hugh Keevins.
The veteran journalist has ramped up transfer speculation around Reo Hatate when he made this claim on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, “I’m sure that Ange Postecoglou has got his targets and I’d be surprised if they were not well down the road into the bargain.
“There will be obvious targets for other clubs. Reo Hatate being the main one I think. And then it comes down to business.
“Because if Celtic get offered exceptional money for Reo Hatate, and they didn’t pay that much to get him, it would fit the Celtic player trading model, he will go.
“And Ange Postecoglou would look to do an Alistair Johnston on that one whereby he got rid of Josip Juranovic and made a 300% profit on what Celtic had paid for Juranovic.
“And then got in a player who’s younger, I would say better and didn’t cost as much.”
Why Reo Hatate will not leave Celtic
Ange will look to build his team around the Japanese midfielder next season.
Hatate has shown his class and worth to the team with some outstanding performances in the Champions League and with some incredible goals against Rangers.
Postecoglou will be in no mind to sell a player that he believes will be a key man in his quest to tackle Europe next season.
Keevins needs to take his scaremongering elsewhere.
