“I think they’d give him a chance” – Alan Brazil urges Celtic move for former England star

As Celtic look to build their squad for the upcoming season, what has been apparent is the squads lack of depth as they try to cope with their current injury crisis.

With Callum McGregor and James Forrest out of Celtic’s midfield there is an imbalance in the middle of the park that needs to be rectified.

Speaking on Talksport (as cited by Football Scotland), former Celtic player Alan Brazil has urged Hoops boss, Ange Postecoglou, to make his move for former England international, Jack Wilshere.

In his hey day, Wilshere was tipped to become the hottest property in English football when he broke through the scene at Arsenal but injury has hampered him throughout his career and as the talented midfielder looks to find himself a new club, Brazil reckons Celtic would be a perfect fit for a short term measure, “By the way, Scottish football’s not slow you know.

“It’s lively up there, as one or two people have found out when they’ve gone up there.

“But I think the Celtic fans would take to him [Wilshere] if he found his form, with his dribbling skills and taking the ball and running at defenders.

“I think they’d give him a chance, they really would.”

Wilshere undoubtedly has talent, his thirty four caps for his country have proved that but can the Hoops really take a chance on an injury prone player? Not to mention he would be be seriously unfit and would take some time to get up to any kind of fitness levels that Postecoglou’s style of football demands.

Celtic would do well to steer clear of this one and concentrate on targets that can make an immediate impact on the first team.
