“I think it’s not gonna happen” – Celtic tipped to offload youngster labelled ‘brilliant finisher’

Main stand at Celtic Park

The great thing about our club is that we are able to identify and develop some of the best talent in the country and in Ireland.

Our scouting network and youth development is superb.

Where we tend to falter is providing a pathway for these youngsters to the first team and, more often than not, we end up losing them to other clubs in Europe.

Look at players like Luca Connell, Leo Hjelde and Vincent Angelini. All tipped to make it to the very top but got fed up waiting for their chance at the club.

And another that seems to be slipping through the cracks is young Jonny Kenny. Once labelled as a ‘brilliant finisher’ [Sligo Rovers] Paul John Dykes reckons his time at the club may well be up.

Speaking on A Celtic State of Mind, Dykes said, “The other thing I was going to say about Johnny Kenny.

Kenny, what I would be wanting, even though he’s 19, I do want them to make an impact and he’s not making an impact at Championship level.

So do you think that he’s going to come back to Celtic and make an impact? I think it’s not gonna happen.”

Kenny is currently on loan at Queens Park and after making 10 appearances for the club, he has yet to hit the back of the net.

There needs to be a material change in his form from now until the end of the season for him to have any chance of making it at Celtic.

Good luck young man. I hope you can do it.
