“I think if we get £20 million” – Celtic star tipped for huge transfer fee

Match Day Celtic Park

If we get £20m for Josip Juranovic then I will eat my Celtic mouse mat.

That’s not to say I don’t think he’s not a good player, I just think that kind of money is not going to be shelled out for a right back that has been found wanting in the Champions League.

Juranovic is an absolute stand out domestically. In Scotland, no one can get near him but we all know that to command big fees, Celtic players are not judged on what they do in the SPFL.

They are judged in Europe.

And unfortunately Juranovic just hasn’t cut the mustard with the big boys.

Caught out of position on a few occasions against Real Madrid and RB Leipzig, Juranovic’s defensive discipline has been questioned and he has failed to answer them.

But Brian Degnin reckons we can still command the hefty fee.

Speaking on A Celtic State of Mind, Degnin said, “I think where Ange is going to get it right is capitalising when there’s a big money offering.

“And that’s the right way to go about it.

“I think if we get £20 million, which I think should be a minimum for a player that has played at the World Cup at has age, and we’ve got him for £3m, thats £17 million profit. That’s insane. That’s absolutely excellent. And you know what Ange can do with even half of that money.

“And the age he’s at as well, he’s 27 now, you would imagine that his next big move is probably his last big move.”

I think those kind of numbers are pie in the sky if I am honest. We will do well to get close to £15m for Juranovic and if we are offered that kind of money, we should take it. Especially as we have a replacement in Alistair Johnston ready to step in.
