Hugh Keevins jumps on the bandwagon and makes incredible title claim after Europa League exit

After Celtic’s exit from the Europa League, the much maligned Clyde 1 pundit, Hugh Keevins, launched an astonishing attack on the Celtic back four.

Even although the Hoops have the best defensive record in the Scottish Premiership, the Daily Record journalist reckons that the Hoops back four are simply not good enough. And not just for Europe.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Keevins said, “I’m sticking with the glaringly obvious that Celtic don’t have good enough defenders.

Certainly not for that level of the game. When it got to 2-1, eight minutes to go, you never felt confident that it was over because Celtic defended so poorly.

Joe Hart had a good night, but remember that Leverkusen hit both posts. I think the one that Joe Hart saved on the goal line with the Leverkusen, player coming in. I don’t know what he was trying to do.

“So, you know, it could have been worse than 3-2. I again go back to the point that four months ago, when he lost the Champions League qualifier, and then lost to Hearts in the first league game of the season.

Things looked pretty bleak for Celtic but four months later, people are disappointed that they lost 3-2 to Bayer Leverkusen.

So he has made advances, but at the back, they are simply not good enough. I don’t believe that back four would win the Premiership never mind progressing in the Europa League.”

That truly is an astonishing assessment of a team that has won EIGHT of their last nine domestic games and just recently reached the Premier Sports Cup final.

It seems that all that is forgotten even although Celtic went toe to toe with one of the best teams in Europe.

The knees are certainly jerking this weekend as Michael Stewart and Keevins both seem to have joined forces to try and talk down Celtic ahead of an important league match tomorrow at Celtic Park against Aberdeen.

  1. Ifs and coulda’s, they coulda had their goalie sent off for trying to relieve Kyogo of his head, lets no forget too, then how woulda coulda it ah panned out…

    HH

  2. Hugh Kevin’s us only giving his opinion and I tend to agree with it. If you take account of the missed chances that Leverkusen had and how many Celtic had, we could have conceded 8 goals….so yes ! Let’s be honest. We were extremely lucky it was only 3 -2.
In my opinion, Hugh Keevins and Michael Stewart are the only two who tell the TRUTH.
