“He is similar to Kaoru Mitoma” – Former Celt tips star midfielder for EPL move

Celtic midfielder, Reo Hatate has just enjoyed a ten day spell on international duty with Japan.

The tenacious midfielder played a huge part in Japan’s wins against El Salvador and Peru and has cemented his place in Hajime Moriyasu’s plans for sure.

However, because of his solid performances, Hatate is being tipped for a move to the English Premier League.

But former Celtic striker, Frank McAvennie is hopeful that the club can keep him for another season.

“If you are a good player you are going to get poached by the Premier League,” he told Football Insider.

“I think Hatate would be an excellent player down there, he is similar to [Kaoru] Mitoma at Brighton.

“I just hope we get another year out of Hatate. He is a great player but he is not the finished article yet.

“If he waits another year he will do down there a better player and be able to hold his own.

“It is a hard place to go and play football. I think if we get another year out of Hatate I will be delighted.”

The Japanese midfielder still has three years left to run on his contract so if anyone wants him, they will need to offer silly money.

Before the departure of Ange Postecoglou, Hatate had already stated that he is happy at Celtic.

But the landscape may have changed since then. With the Celtic players away on holiday after international duty had ended, the fans will be hoping that we can get through the summer without losing any of our top players.
