Former Celtic target set for ‘£13m’ transfer move

Celtic were linked with Sacha Boey at the beginning of Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic reign.

It was thought the French right back would have signed for the Hoops but instead he chose to move to Galatasaray in move that was worth close to €4m [Galatasaray.com].

Now it seems that Boey is being targeted by a number of clubs across Europe including Eintracht Frankfurt, Wolfsburg and Crystal Palace [Footmercato].

It is thought that any move may cost prospective clubs €13m as the Turkish Super Liga side quoted Liverpool when they came calling just over two months ago [TeamTalk].

After Boey’s snub, Ange Postecoglou turned his attention to Josip Juranovic and it is fair to say the moves have worked out for both parties.

Boey has been used sparingly by the Turks making only 19 appearances for the club last season and 13 so far this season.

Boey said of the Celtic interest at the time [Football Scotland], “In the summer I had a straight choice between Celtic and Galatasaray.

“The previous season I had played against Celtic and got noticed, It was a great stadium and a fantastic atmosphere.

“I liked Celtic, but I said no.

“Galatasaray is an incredible club – they are the biggest in Turkey and the fans are unbelievable. Everything is huge.

“I made up my mind quickly. I want to win trophies. In football, they only remember winners.

I arrived in Istanbul on the Sunday. By the end of the day, one of my social media accounts went up from 14,000 to 50,000 followers before I said a word. I thought my phone was broken.

“When I was at the airport, the fans made me feel like a superstar. I am actually quite a grounded player. I haven’t shown anything yet in football.

“But I know I have made the right choice and I am loving life at Galatasaray.”

Cool story bro. Whilst Boey holds aloft his ‘I’ve Got 50k Twitter Followers’ Trophy, Juranovic just needs to make do as an SPFL Champion and League Cup winner.
