Former Celt makes bizarre Ronny Deila accusation

Match Day Celtic Park

Ok, I know when I say former Celt I am stretching it here but he was at the club when the infamous Ronny Roar was born so he does know what went on at the club.

Ronny Deila was dealt a harsh hand at Celtic. Originally earmarked as an assistant to Neil Lennon, the Norwegian found himself thrust into the cut throat world of management when he was handed the keys to Paradise.

To his eternal credit, Deila did try to change many things at the club to help improve the players fitness and diet regime which makes Sam Wardrop’s comments here all the more perplexing:

@anyexcuseforapodcast @Sam Wardrop tells us about Ronny Deila changing the diet at celtic when he first came in. Many stories from sam on our episode out now on youtube. @jordanmckerry1 @Shay Mitchell #fyp #fypシ #podcast #scotland #glasgow #footbal #celticfc #ronnydeila #diet #funny #anyexcuseforapodcast #dumbarton #balloch ♬ original sound – AnyExcuseForAPodcast

Wardrop appeared for Celtic at youth level but was clearly involved in and around the club. But fry ups? Really?

That seems way off the mark considering long term Deila critic Kris Commons said this of the former Celtic boss, “The diet was all wrong .

Everything about the diet, everything about the off-field activities.

“There was a guy coming in and saying you’ve got to be under 80kg which is fine if you’re 81.

But the guys were 84 and 85kg, losing the best part of a stone in weight and then trying to play football.

“We were going into game having lamb shanks, we were having whipped cream strawberries, berries…no Lucozade, no Powerade, no carbs, no potatoes. Literally salads and fat

There were thing laid on for you, pasta you could have.

“When you’re being watched all the time, what you’re eating, how you’re living, what you’re doing and if your manager says you can’t do it, you don’t want to then undermine him.

I’d never been so thin in my life but I couldn’t run for s***.”

Even Virgil van Dijk backed Commons’ comments on the dietary regime.

So who’s to be believed?

I know who I believe.
