Early Rangers manager favourite effectively ruled out as he ‘eyes’ Leicester

As the fans of Ibrox look longingly at their phone’s for some sort of managerial announcement, it seems that one of the early favourites has been effectively ruled out of the running for job as Eurosport reports today that he is looking to return to the English Premier League.

Frank Lampard was one of the early favourites for the position but as Eurosport claims, Leicester City is catching his eye if former Celtic gaffer Brendan Rodgers takes the leap to the Theatre of Dreams.

Lampard’s odds of landing the Ibrox hot seat tumbled to 17/2 today amid this news as the report said, “Sources indicate that he has half an eye on the Leicester City situation in case Brendan Rodgers leaves. Rodgers is currently favourite for the Manchester United job and would likely have a big decision to make if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer loses his job.

The profile of club at Leicester is the sort of platform Lampard would welcome when he returns. He had particular reservations about various aspects of the jobs that became available at Newcastle and Norwich.

Not a mention of Rangers as Lampard effectively pie’s any advance from the Ibrox outfit.

With an upcoming Premier Sports semi final on Sunday, the Rangers supporters will be hoping that their preferred candidate, Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be the man in the dugout come kick off.
