Medical passed. £3.5m deal set to be announced

Janefield Street

I’ll be glad and sad when this deal is officially announced.

Giorgos Giakoumakis has created quite the stir these last long few months.

Rejection of a new contract meant that the Greek striker left himself vulnerable to testing Ange Postecoglou’s patience and when that happens, there was only ever going to be one winner.

Rumours that GG’s contract was messed up to the point that a ridiculous sell on clause has resulted in Celtic needing to accept a low ball offer for the international striker are rife, but unconfirmed, but it dies seem that this is coming to an end now.

And when he does leave, it will be a sad moment. GG is a very good striker. He has proven his worth to the team but, he doesn’t see himself in a back up role. He wants to be the main man. And I can understand that.

I’ll be glad when it’s announced though. Stability is important around the club and constant transfer speculation is not good when vying for trophies on all three domestic fronts.

When the time comes, we wish him well in his next chapter.
