Barry Ferguson bizarrely claims Celtic will ‘struggle’ without two key players. Has he not been paying attention?

The great thing about this Celtic side is it’s strength in depth.

For every position in the team, we have at least one covering player.

I’ve never seen a squad quite like it.

So much strength, this team looks unstoppable as we look to retain the title and win a possible treble.

Which makes Barry Ferguson’s comments about the squad weirdly bizarre.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, Ferguson said, “Watching the game on Saturday and watching Celtic, if you take Callum McGregor or Carter-Vickers out the team I think they struggle.

He’s [Carter-Vickers] became just as important as Callum McGregor.

I think he holds up the back lot together. If somebody makes a mistake he’s always there covering. He certainly impressed me. No doubt about that. He’s come on to be a proper leader at Celtic.”

At various points in the season we have had both players out. In fact, the two months that McGregor was out, Celtic won every single game.

The only game we ‘struggled’ was St Mirren when not only CCV was out, so was Starfelt.

I genuinely wonder if these pundits just ‘say stuff’ to wind us up or they genuinely believe what the hell they are talking about.

If that’s us struggling when these players are out, I am genuinely worried about the rest of the teams in the SPFL when both players are fit and available.
