Ange confirms fee agreed. Is it when and not if for exciting transfer deal?

He’s on the lips of every single Celtic fan. No, I’m not talking about Daizen Maeda, although the constant speculation regarding his future does leave the Hoops fans looking forward to the January transfer window.

We are of course, talking about Felipe Jota.

Jota has been absolutely sensational since joining the Hoops and the Celtic fans are really keen to get the Portuguese winger tied up on a permanent contract.

With a reported first option to buy for Celtic priced at £6.5m, the rumour mill is in overdrive as pundits and journalists try to predict what it would cost to bring Jota to Paradise.

Speaking to BBC Sportsound after the Dundee victory, Ange was speaking about Jota glowingly when he dropped a massive reveal, “I’m surprised you’re only starting to talk about Jota now!

“There are a fair few people who have been talking about him for a while.

“He’s doing really well, he’s a young man who knows he’s got a hell of a lot of talent but he also knows he needs the right environment as well.

“He hasn’t had the easiest start to his career, he was out on loan last year and it didn’t work out for him.

“I think he’s loving life here and my job is to make him the best possible player he can be.

“If he feels that this is the place for his future we’d be more than happy to keep him here but he’s got a pretty good head on his shoulders and he knows that the best way forward for him is to keep playing his football and the rest will take care of itself.

Postecoglou was then asked if a fee had already been agreed between Celtic and Benfica and the manager answered, simply, “That’s correct.”

If the fee has already been agreed it would seem that it is simply a case of when and not if Jota joins the Hoops.

The Celtic fans will be hoping that the deal is concluded sooner rather than later but with the deal seemingly already agreed in principle, there does seem to be need to rush into concluding a permanent switch.
