Andy Walker slaps down ‘debate’ on Celtic’s winner at Motherwell and lays the blame firmly at one person

Celtic’s game against Motherwell will be remembered for many things.

Fast, free-flowing football with thunderous goals it WON’T be remembered for but VAR controversy and bitching and moaning about Celtic’s winner it will be.

There does seem to be a narrative building in the media that Maeda’s winner is getting more controversy than that of Jota’s goal and the shocking red card decision that Motherwell should have had after the tackle on Carl Starfelt.

But, it seems, that Maeda is one they all want to talk about and Andy Walker slapped down any notion that the goal shouldn’t have stood and blames one person for the goal being conceded.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, Walker said, “I was really impressed with Motherwell actually.

I think they realised Celtic were not at their best and I thought they almost nicked a point because it was one-nil for so long.

I didn’t really understand the debate about the second goal. I mean, he [Penny] threw it off Haksabanovic’s head.

There was no attempt by the player to jump or get in the way.”

100% bang on the money from Walker.

Penny tried to be smart and hit it off Haksa and it backfired.

The player, his manager and his CEO need to suck it up and stop using that as an excuse for the defeat,
