Journalist destroys Celtic’s Madrid back line with stunning ratings

Celtic have received some very good plaudits across the media world for their efforts in the Champions League this season.

Ange Postecoglou’s refusal to send his team out to defend against Europe’s big boys has been extremely popular amongst the pundits and even the fans as the team bowed out with a 5-1 hammering against Real Madrid.

In fairness, I thought there were players who struggled last night due to the quality of the Madrid side but not to the extent that journalist Tom Gott thinks

Writing in 90 min, Gott put:

RB: Josip Juranovic – 3/10 – Compounded Celtic’s misery with a poor penalty.

CB: Carl Starfelt – 3/10 – Didn’t look fully fit on his return from injury as he chased Real’s forwards around to no avail.

CB: Moritz Jenz – 2/10 – Set the tone by giving away a penalty five minutes in. Looked terrified whenever asked to do anything.

LB: Greg Taylor – 2/10 – Chasing shadows as Asensio breezed past him with ease.

Very harsh indeed.

The back line toiled last night due to the quality they were up against but at no point do any of them deserve criticism like this.

Celtic now move onto domestic duty this weekend where they will hope to extend their lead at the top of the table and hopefully ram these ratings by Gott where the sun don’t shine.
