The Green Brigade have highlighted the Scottish media for what they really are

Match Day Celtic Park

That banner.

Whether you agree with it or not, the Green Brigade have the right to express their thoughts and opinions on the monarchy whichever way they like.

Just as those that the support the monarchy do as well.

It’s everyone’s democratic right to do so.

What worries me is that the media seem to be quick to shoot down and criticise those that have a negative stance towards the monarch’s when they are supposed to be completely impartial and unbiased.

But the message on the GB banner was clever. Not the Michael Fagan add-on. The ‘F**k the Crown’ part.

Because it was a stance on the Establishment, not any specific member of the Royal Family.

And the uproar and furore that the banner has caused has given the media a great excuse to ‘forget’ to report on yesterday’s biggest story of the day.

Prince Andrew, who has been accused [but not convicted] of the most heinous crime that only £12m can make go away, was brought back into public service as the Earl of Inverness.

Not only that, he is also effectively the stand-in King as Charles appointed him his second in command.

And the silence from the Scottish media on that is astonishing. You just have to look at one of the top trending stories on Twitter (#Inverness) to see that there is nothing from the mainstream media on this.

No outrage. No moral pontification. Nothing.

There is a petition which you can sign here.

But this just makes the Green Brigade’s message more powerful. The ‘Crown’ (i.e. the Establishment) is what they were standing against.

The ease at which the establishment can do what they like without criticism or being held to account by our media is astonishing, whilst they target the ordinary working class who dare demonstrate their disgust that an alleged paedophile is allowed to walk free and continue his lavish lifestyle while his alleged victims need to bear the scars of their experiences.

This country makes me sick.
