“I can’t see him going to Celtic” – Former Hoops makes deadline day claim

I’m sure this has been spoken about before somewhere.

But the Billy Gilmour to Celtic transfer or loan or whatever it might be, needs put to bed.

We all know where his loyalties lie. We all know what his family think of our club, his mother anyway, after her embarrassing show when Gilmour signed for Norwich.

So the thought of her son strutting her stuff at Paradise would probably make her choke on her flute!

Frank McAvennie was asked if he thought Gilmour could end up at Celtic and whilst he said he can’t see it happening, he Macca’d it at the end of the interview.

Speaking to Football Insider, McAvennie said, “I don’t think he’ll do that again [a repeat of his Norwich loan].

“To go to a Premier League team it will have to be one at the bottom of the table, fighting relegation and that’s not his kind of game. So he’ll maybe go to a top Championship side.

“You could see Billy Gilmour going to Bournemouth or somewhere but they’re getting attacked, under pressure every week and that’s not his game. So top championship, I could see that.

“Or coming back to Scotland, but then again I can’t see him going to Celtic or Rangers so it would be Hearts, going to any of the other ones I think he’d be under pressure again.“
