South American football expert pinpoints brilliant Celtic transfer advantage over other clubs

Celtic are clearly active in the South American transfer market on the lookout for reinforcements.

With Ange Postecoglou already looking at a number of targets, it seems that this is another area that the Celtic manager has extensive knowledge of and hopes to raid for more successful signings.

But with clubs from all over the world already tapping into players from that market, what chance do Celtic have of being more appealing to countries such as Portugal or Italy?

A huge chance. And this South American football expert details why.

Jon Cotterill is a Sao Paulo-based South American football expert and author of the book Anatomy of a Football Scout.

Speaking in The Athletic, Cotterill said, “I don’t think it’s a problem for Celtic to bring in these types of players.

“It would obviously be a stepping stone to other things for a lot of younger players but you can plan your long-term strategy around that.

Celtic are a huge name.

They would be an easy sell to players in South America.

You just have to show videos of the fans and the stadium to potential signings, and they’ll buy into it.

“The weather, however — well, that might be a downside for some of them.”

The Celtic Park experience is world renowned.

The atmosphere the fans can create in the stadium is second to none and many top players from around Europe have commented on it.

The chance to play your football there only comes around once in your life. I reckon players from that part of the world would jump at it above all others.
