“Where was your commentary after the derby game at Ibrox?” – Celtic fans rinse Chris McLaughlin’s ‘tougher sanctions’ tweet

As night follows day, we wee action being taken as soon as any harm comes to the Rangers fans.

Now let me just start off by saying this. No one should go to a match and fear assault. I do not condone any kind of violence towards any football fan.

And if wrongdoing is found to be done on Sunday, then those fans responsible should be held to account. Regardless what strip they wear.

And therein lies the issue. The silence from the media men about punishments when broken bottles made it onto the Ibrox pitch was deafening.

Sure, they all condemned it, but talk of punishments being dished out to the Ibrox club? Not. A. Sausage.

Until it happens at Celtic Park. Now it’s all ‘tougher sanctions’ from certain factions of the media:

And you know what? I’m all for it. I’m all for clubs being punished for failing to control their fans behaviour because I could name another SPFL club that would be in deep sh*t along with Rangers if this happened. A certain club from Edinburgh to be exact. Not Hibs.

But balance and fairness should always be applied to reporting from a national broadcaster and there was none of this talk when it was Rangers fans guilty of bottle throwing.

And yet, the enquiry hasn’t even been concluded yet and McLaughlin is here talking sanctions to our club.
