“I expect arrests to be made” – Police Scotland sends ominous warning to Sevco fans for cup semi songbook

About time as well.

The signing from that section of the stadium yesterday was an embarrassment to whole of Scottish football, but also mainly to Rangers.

Earlier today I called out the ‘minority of fans’ argument as it was very clear that with the whole Rangers section in full voice after their first and second goal, the sectarian singing from the Rangers fans was shameful.

And what was even more shameful was Premier Sports refusal to even address it live on air.

No attempt to turn down the volume or even an apology to their viewers.

Nothing.

Well now it seems that Police Scotland have got their act together and have now opened up an investigation into the hate crime at Hampden with this following statement. “Video evidence footage was taken at that time and enquiries are now ongoing into alleged sectarian and anti-Catholic singing from those being escorted.

“Anti-Catholic and indeed all forms of hate crime are completely unacceptable and today’s events again remind us of the ongoing challenges we have in some parts of Scotland with sectarianism.

“Police Scotland must of course play its part in a wider and joined up response and I expect arrests to be made following today’s match.”

But what is also very noticeable, although not surprising, is the silence from the games governing body.

In fact, why even bother with that last line?

Ignorance is bliss. It’s par for the course in this wee country.
