“This is nothing to do with football” – Frank McAvennie’s brilliant Sevco slapdown

After the COVID debacle of the last couple of days, the sensible decision has been made and the winter shutdown will be brought forward to start on the 27th December.

As we all witnessed last season, football without fans in the stadium is dire and the thought of returning to that was not welcome by all fans.

Well almost all fans. Guess which set of fans, bizarrely, want to see the return of no crowds?

Yep. You guessed it. Them.

For reasons that only they know (we know as well) they want reduced crowds. Reduced crowds means less pressure and we all saw what happened last season when no pressure was put on their team from the stands.

And at least one person had the courage to call it out.

Speaking to Football Insider, Frank McAvennie went on a full scale rant about Rangers conduct over the last couple of days and brilliantly aimed a well timed dig at the club about their refusal to agree to an early shutdown, “Why don’t Rangers want to do that?

“They just do whatever anyone else doesn’t want to do and vice versa.

“Whatever the SPFL or Celtic want to do, Rangers will kick up a fuss.

“This is nothing to do with football, it’s people’s health and wellbeing.

“If they can’t see that then, well, I don’t know what to say. All of these decisions are hard.

“Maybe it’s because Rangers are on a roll and they know they perform better without a crowd anyway.

“It’s just unbelievable.”

Well said Frank.
