‘Celtic ready’ – Japanese media report exciting Hoops transfer story

As Celtic start to count the cost of their exit from the Europa League last night, it seems the club are still willing to dip into the transfer market to help Ange Postecoglou strengthen his side in January.

With the usual suspects of Daizen Maeda and Reno Hatate still the hot topic of focus, a new name is being banded about by Japanese media outlet, Sakanowa.

According to Sakanowa, Celtic are looking to sign Danish international striker Kasper Junker.

Junker currently plies his trade for Urawa Reds and is entering into the last six months of his contract.

Sakanowa reports that Celtic are more attracted to his goalscoring record in the Norwegian league where he scored an incredible 28 goals in 26 appearances and added 15 assists to his impressive record in the 2020 season.

Juncker’s goalscoring record in the Japanese J League is still impressive as he averages one goal every two games and it seems that with Albian Ajeti seemingly on his way out of the club, Juncker could be eyed as an ideal replacement.

The rumour was further backed up as a Japanese twitter account called JLeague_uwasa claimed that Celtic face competition from six English clubs including Derby, West Brom, Crystal Palace, Swansae, Middlesbrough and Bristol.

However, with Derby currently in administration, it is unlikely that they will be looking at adding more players to their squad.
