Celtic ‘preparing’ as another report hints at January deal being reached

As Celtic prepare for a hectic December and look forward to attempting to win the first major trophy up for grabs, there is a lot to look forward to for the Hoops support.

With European football guaranteed before Christmas in the Europa Conference Cup, the next challenge on the park is Bayer Leverkusen as Ange Postecoglou tries to keep alive the Europa Cup dream.

Off the park, however, the biggest challenge it seems is to persuade Jota to sign permanently on the dotted line.

The fee has been agreed and Celtic have first refusal but does the hugely popular Portuguese winger have the appetite to stay in Scotland permanently?

According to The Scotsman, he does and according to the reports author, Mark Dingwall, “Jota has made no secret of how much he is enjoying life at Celtic and is understood to be open to a permanent move to the club, with game-time limited back at Benfica.

As reported by Vital Celtic, Jota was asked about a move to Celtic on BBC Sportsound but he wasn’t giving much away, but when asked about life in Scotland, Jota said, “I think it’s been terrific. I’ve just adapted very well.

“All the teammates have been very good all the stuff . But I want to remain humble and just do my thing.

“Enjoy football game after game because we just have to enjoy life and I’m doing it right now”

BBC journalist Kenny McIntyre then asked the question every Celtic fan wants to know the answer to, “Do you want to stay?”

Jota coyly replied, “I just want to play so that’s, that’s what I’m doing.

But as Jota seems to be wanting to commit his future at Paradise, hopefully negotiations will go smoothly and quickly and the Celtic fans will be celebrating in January as he commits his long term future to Glasgow Celtic.
