Wim Jansen tributes flood in as football fans show legend some love

As the terrible news broke on Celtic twitter yesterday of Hoops legend Wim Jansen’s dementia diagnosis, the Celtic family, as always, pulled together in tribute to the man that stopped their greatest rivals from achieving the coveted ten titles in a row.

Jansen’s achievement at that time was monumental.

Not only because of what he achieved on the park, but also in the way he pulled the club together after a shaky start to the season to go on to not only win the league, but secure a cup double.

And there was also the small matter of signing the legend that is Henrik Larsson.

However, what was very interesting was the tributes pouring in from other footballing nations.

From afar as Japan, where Jansen was involved with Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Urawa Red Diamonds to Holland where he bossed Feyenoord.

There was also a nice touch from some Rangers fans.

“You’re the one who directed in Hiroshima …”

“This is also not in the Dutch football news.”

“Beautifully written, respect for Celtic FC”

Loved by the Celtic fans, respected the world over. We wish Wim Jansen all the very best.
