“I think he’s been a brilliant signing” – Former Scotland star praises new Celtic boy

Joe Hart has been an absolute stand out for Celtic. Of that there is no question. With Celtic struggling last season persisting with the triple combination of Vasilis Barkas, Scott Bain and Conor Hazard, the majority of our defensive issues came from our No1.

But the capture of former England international Joe Hart has changed all that. We now have confidence between the posts that we have not seen since Fraser Forster once donned the Celtic crest on his chest.

And former Scotland defender, Allan Hutton (cited by The Sun), reckons he has been a huge signing for the Hoops this season and is filling in the massive void left by the former fans favourite, “He’s been huge, hasn’t he?

“I mean, don’t get me wrong, I don’t really want my goalkeeper having the biggest passing stats. I’d rather it further up the pitch than in front of my own goal.

“He brings a wealth of experience. He’s been there, done it, bought the t-shirt.

“Yes, he’s had a difficult couple of seasons not playing but I think when you are the main man, you’re playing week in, week out, one of the first names on the team sheet, it gives you confidence.

“He’s a fantastic goalkeeper, we see that with some of the saves that he makes. He’s still got it, he’s got a lot to give and he’s relatively young for a goalkeeper.

“It was a position Celtic struggled to fill since Fraser Forster left. He’s come in and really calmed that back four down.

“As a defender, when you turn around and see him in goal, it gives you confidence. I think he’s been a brilliant signing and played to a real high standard.”
