Postecoglou gives update on mystery missing man

The injuries keep on mounting up and Ange Postecoglou’s selection headache continues.

With the Hoops coming into a very hectic and difficult schedule, it did look like one of our injury problems had been solved.

Mikey Johnston had just returned from a serious injury and made his comeback in past Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Livingston.

The Celtic fans were hoping to see him in action again this week, but mysteriously, never saw his name of the team sheet or the bench.

Ange has given an update on the tricky winger and unfortunately for the Celtic fans, the news isn’t looking too good, “Unfortunately, Mikey Johnston picked up a niggle on Wednesday so he will be out and I’m not sure when he will be back.

For a young player, he really does seem susceptible to injury.

Over the course of his time at Celtic, Johnston has been missing a total of an incredible 414 days through injury.

Granted, over 300 of those was because of his medial collateral ligament damage but this new blow will be very frustrating not only for the manager, but for the player as well.

At just 22 years old, Johnston still has a lot of football in him and may well prove to become an excellent Celtic player in the future, but with his current injury record the club there could come a time where his career at the Hoops needs to be called.

But, until we know the full extent of the injury he has picked up, the jury will remain out on the promising winger.

  1. Someone needs to have long hard look at our training and medical regime, too many players getting similar injuries and some others don’t look 100%fit.
