“You might actually see that used” – Could this be the missing “Plan B”

As Celtic look set to face Raith Rovers in tonights Premier Sports Cup quarter final at Celtic Park, Ange Postecoglou looks set to give Gorgios Giakoumakis his home debut.

It is not known whether he will start on the bench or will make the first team, but his inclusion could be the start of something bigger for future of the Hoops.

As the Parkhead side struggled to break down a dogged Livingston in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat, the lack of attacking options on the bench was never more apparent.

According to Kevin Graham on the A Celtic State of Mind podcast, the Greek attacker could be the “Plan B” that Ange Postecoglou could use if the Hoops are struggling to break down sides away from home, “Ange likes the 4-3-3. And I think what will probably happen is as Kyogo plays through the middle, and if we’re struggling to break down a team, Giakoumakis comes on, as the plan B, and Kyogo moves out wide to one of the wider to try and stretch the game if we are struggling.

And I think you may actually see that used in a lot of the away games, if we are struggling to break down on tighter pitches you might actually see that used.

There is a sense of excitement surrounding this fixture tonight as the Celtic supporters will be keen to get a glimpse of their new signing.

It’s not very often the Hoops sign the top goalscorer from the Dutch league so it will be intriguing to see what he brings to the table.
