Edouard tipped to struggle at Palace as pundit labels Frenchman a ‘working progress’

The big transfer story of the summer was, obviously, Odsonne Edouard.

As the Frenchman entered into the last year of his contract all the chat was centred around whether or not the former French u21 international would stay at Celtic or not.

Many Hoops fans had the opinion that Edouard may have a change of heart and stay as Ange Postecoglou changed the culture around the club but many could still see the apparent lack of enthusiasm the more times they saw him in the green and white hoops.

Eventually he sealed a deal to move to the bright lights of London as Crystal Palace spent £14m to take him to Selhurst Park. But he has been tipped to struggle in the Premier League by Go Radio’s Craig Moore.

Moore is a former Eagle and says that with his old club still trying to get used to their new manager, Edouard may find it difficult to hit the ground running, “It will be tough for him. Because I mean a new manager as Viera is trying to change things.

Create a new style of play but they don’t at this moment in time, create a lot of chances.

You need to take your chances down there. So I think there’s going to be a period of transition, and it is going to be tough.

They’ll stay up but in terms of Edouard hitting the ground running. I think he is gonna be a working progress down there.

That may come as a surprise to many Celtic fans as they believe Edouard is the real deal, but only if he turns up motivated and ready to play.

One thing is for sure. If Palace get the Eddy that first signed for the Hoops, they will have a hell of a player on their hands.

  1. He’ll feel the weight of Viera’s fine shooting prowess on his bahookie several times before he’s up to EPL standard. Good luck.
