“Talks Are Under Way” – Major Transfer Departure Expected By Next Week

This is probably one of those stories that is as predictable as the annual “Bring Paddy Home” stories that appear during the transfer window.

Well, maybe not quite the same but the “Odsonne Edouard to…….” story is one that crops us just as much and this year it has been ramped up a notch as the big Frenchman enters the last year of his contract and, as yet, shows no signs of putting pen to paper on an extension.

As reports circulated last week that the u21 star was expected to join either Crystal Palace or Brighton, it seems The Seagulls are in the control seat as Football Insider reports that their sources close to the Premier League club have told them that Edouard’s representatives have held talks with those from the seaside club.

However, the £20m that Celtic are looking for may need to be rounded down as it the report says that Brighton are unwilling to match Celtic’s valuation of Edouard, but the Premiership club remain hopeful a deal can be made before their Premier League campaign kicks off on less than ten days time.

Edouard has so far failed to impress in the clubs opening three games and has still been first pick to lead the forward line despite poor performances and the fact he has made no secret that he wants to leave the club.

If Edouard does leave as the report says, it gives the Hoops just over two weeks to find a suitable replacement as they would be left with just Albian Ajeti and Leigh Griffiths as their only two recognised strikers and no insurance policy should either of those players suffer injuries or suspensions.
