Lennon And Howe Incredibly Go Head To Head For Championship Managerial Job

You couldn’t script it.

Former Celtic manager Neil Lennon and former Celtic managerial candidate Eddie Howe are going head to head for the Swansea city job.

The Swans former manager Steve Cooper managed to get The Swans to the Championship play off final back in May but lost out to Kristoffer Ajer’s new club, Brentford.

Cooper said of his departure, “I am very proud of what we have achieved over the past two seasons, especially getting to the play-off final, but it feels like a good time for all parties to make a change.

“It is a fantastic club, with incredible supporters and I am very grateful to them, to the players and all the staff for making me so welcome here. I wish the team every success for the future.”

Cooper left his position today and in true bookies style, Eddie Howe was immediately installed as the favourite for the job at 4/1 with former Celtic gaffer Lennon not far behind at 8/1.

Another former Celtic managerial candidate favourite, Frank Lampard is also being touted for the Welsh club’s top job.

The Swansea job would be an attractive position for any manager and with the riches of the English Premier League a top priority for Swansea, the lure and appeal of managing them to the richest league in the world may be too hard for Howe or Lennon to turn down.

But that said, it is just bookies odds and there has been nothing from the club to suggest approached have either of the former managers so we will watch this one with serious interest.
