J League Expert Reveals How Celtic Sensationally Beat Premier League Clubs To Furuhashi

Celtic’s signing of Japanese star Kyogo Furuhashi has been nothing short of a revelation this summer.

Not one hint of speculation surrounded the move and Celtic, according to J League expert Alan Gibson, have stolen a march on the big guns from not only the English Premier League, but also the Bundesliga by capturing the Japanese international.

Speaking on The Only As Good As Your Last Game podcast, Gibson said of Furuhashi’s move to the Hoops, “I think it’s a bit out of left field because we (the Japanese media) really thought that the Dutch, Belgian or perhaps German clubs would be the best fit for him.

“Celtic, or even the Premier League teams due to working permit problems perhaps, didn’t really enter into it until the last few months.

“He’s probably played in enough games in the national team for the last two years to qualify now especially if they take into account the COVID corona problems.

“So, perhaps, in the next month or so we might have seen Premier League clubs being a bit more interested because they realise that they might be able to get a work permit.

“But Postecoglou knows him very well and he snapped him up before anyone else did, so good luck to Celtic.”

There is absolutely no doubt the move for Furuhashi shocked the Scottish media and the Celtic fans loved that. Here’s hoping there are more surprises coming Celtic’s way as Postecoglou looks to strengthen the squad this summer.
