“On His Way To Glasgow” – Israeli Media Report Move Is On
Celtic have been linked with many names during this transfer and whilst many have failed to come to fruition, there is one player who looks like he will be wearing the green and white Hoops next season.
According to Isreali media site One, Liel Abada of Maccabi Petah Tikva, is currently on his way from France, via London, to come to Glasgow to sign on the dotted line for Scotland’s most successful club.
Abada is a striker and at just 19 years old, looks like another “one for the future”.
In 56 appearances for Maccabi, the youngster has scored just sixteen times. He can also play wide as a winger and Postecoglou may see his versatility as a trait he could use to instil his brand of football on the team.
Abada has been capped just once at international level against Montenegro in June but does have 48 caps from the u16-u21 internationals.
The report also claims that Abada was sought after as he attracted the attention and “offers” from clubs from France and Belgium with Club Brugge named as one of the interested parties.
Celtic fans will be hoping the signing of Abada will be the start of the floodgates opening in terms of new arrivals with the club preparing for their Champions League qualifier clash against Midtjylland.
With the deal expected to cost the club four million Euro’s, it would seem a hefty layout for a player that is a relative unknown in these parts. With no one at the club leading the recruitment team, we just have to hope that Postecoglou has his finger on the pulse with this one.
