“I Think It Would Be A Good Move” – Pundit Tips Legend For Top Celtic Job

No one really knows if there is going to be a major structural change of Celtic’s hierarchy this season.

With speculation heavily weighted towards the Hoops appointing a Director of Football to try and modernise the club, as yet there has been no official approach for any candidates.

One man that thinks he has the answer is former Scotland full back and now pundit, Allan Hutton.

Speaking to Football Insider, Hutton makes a suggestion that will delight all the Celtic fans, “He’s obviously a very popular figure at Parkhead. As a manager, he did really good things while he was there.

“Now, at his age, it would be something that he feels he can now go in and do. He knows the club is in a bit of a dip at the moment and they’re going through a rebuild.

“He obviously feels with his experience through club football and international football that he can offer something. I think he could.

“He’s full of experience and would bring a calmness because he’s been in the hot seat himself so he understands the pressure that goes with it. He’d be able to help the manager if they wanted to bounce off each other. That could work well.

“I’ve always said that it’s important the manager and director of football get along. If they’re focusing in the same direction it’s only going to help the club.

“It would be interesting to see if it happened. I think it would be a good move.”

Whether or not the board are still looking at this change in structure is a question only Dom McKay can make but if he was wanting some grace from the transfer criticism the club has been receiving from the fans, a move for O’Neill would certainly do that.
