“He Could Easily Bring Them In” – Former Hoops Striker Drops Postecoglou Target Hint

As Celtic are seemingly scouring the market for players to strengthen the team ahead of the new season, former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie says that Ange could easily dip into a market he knows already.

Speaking to Football Insider, McAvennie said Ange already knows where he can get the players to do the job for him and he needs to look no further than his old club, “He’ll have players in mind, players he’s had before.

“Players he trusts but players we’ve never heard of. It’s a quick fix for him.

“If Postecoglou believes these players are good enough then he could easily bring them in.

“I don’t have a problem with it. Some people want the big names but sometimes that’s not the right move.

“We have to have faith in him and see what happens but it would not surprise me if he was speaking to his former players.

“He might have even said ‘see you in a few weeks’ to the lads at Yokohama.”

The Japanese market is an untouched resource for Celtic and with the Hoops having no experience of buying direct from Japan, who could forget the one iconic figure from the unmitigated success that was the one and only Shunsuke Namamura.

Granted, the Hoops did pluck Nakamura from Reggina in the Serie A, but the Japanese legend did start his career at Ange’s former club Yokohama F Marinos.

If that isn’t a sign or an omen to take a punt at raiding his old club, then I don’t know what is.
