“Club Record Fee” – Celtic Tipped For Major Transfer Cash Windfall

With many of Celtic’s players linked with moves away in the summer, players like Odsonne Edouard, Ryan Christie and Kristoffer Ajer are all expected to be plying their trades elsewhere come the start of the new season.

With the Hoops already having saw Edouard’s move to Leicester City collapse and midfielder, Ryan Christie, reportedly being “tracked” by Crystal Palace, new revenue that could have been used to help facilitate Ange Postecoglou’s rebuild is currently on hold. Until now.

A report by English media outlet, Eastern Daily Express, claims that Norwich City are about to make a club record fee to take Kristoffer Ajer to the English Premier League.

Having already saw a £10m bid knocked back by the Hoops, The Canaries are ready to increase the offer to the Hoops to £12m to secure the services of the big Norwegian international.

It is thought that Celtic were holding out for a £13m fee for Ajer but their resolve could be tested as City look to tempt the board with a fresh new offer.

Ajer has already spoken of his desire to leave Paradise this season after an interview with Norwegian TV the big defender said,  “There are many rumours, and right now there are only rumours.

“It is clear that something will happen this summer. It is the best for both parties.”

You would have to imagine that on top of the £12m fee Celtic would insist on a sell on clause but it would seem that with Ajer entering the final year of his contract, £12m would be a fantastic deal for the Hoops.

  1. I’d expect £15m for a first team regular like Ajer, but if they were only holding out for £13m then yes accept the offer and hold out for a high sell on fee.
