“I’d Say 95% He Will Move On” – Exciting Transfer Update On Celtic Target
A report has emerged from the Shields Gazette today where in an interview with Sunderland manager, Lee Johnson, has all but given up hope of retaining his main striker Charlie Wyke.
Wyke has been heavily linked to a move to Celtic and Johnson admits that although he would never close the door on his main man, he does believe he will take the opportunity this summer to move on to pastures new, “Charlie, I would say the door is ajar, but we’re certainly not expecting him to come back.
“I’d say that it would be him coming back to us and saying he wants to talk again, effectively.
“My gut says that he will move on, I’d say 95% that he’ll move on.
“But we would leave the door ajar because at the moment, you never know.
“There’s a lot of people talking in the Championship but who aren’t in a great place in terms of being able to commit to players financially.
“They seem to have been hit the hardest and in some cases, it’s the League One clubs who seem to be the largest spenders.”
That is great news for Celtic gaffer Ange Postecoglou as he sees the big Englishman as a potential replacement for wantaway striker Odsonne Edouard.
With Leigh Griffiths penning a one year contract extension just this week, if Postecoglou can add Wyke to his ranks and manage to hold onto Edouard and persuade him to sign an extension, the Hoops would be well geared up with firepower as they seek to rip the title back from their rivals in Govan.
