I think out of all the teams current Celtic striker, Odsonne Edouard, has been linked to, this must be a new one.
As reported by Vital Celtic, the Liverpool Echo have claimed that Liverpool may have Edouard on their radar. The Frenchman has been the subject of much speculation over the last three months and it was widely expected that the Hoops talisman would join Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City.
But after talks broke down, all rumours of a move have when quiet. Until now.
As Edouard enters the final year of his contract, his value to the Celtic balance sheet diminishes. Ange Postecoglou has spoken of his desire to keep Edouard at Paradise but only if the French u21 stars ambition matches his, “Do I have to make a quick decision on Edouard? Again, it’ll be a two-way conversation. It’s not just about me and what I desire.
“Whether it’s Edouard or whoever, my feeling is that whatever dreams or aspirations they may have, I think they can accomplish them here at Celtic.”
The Echo claims that with Edouard being “a versatile and hard-working forward, willing to come short to link play or make selfless runs in behind in order to stretch and disrupt an opponent’s defence.” means he has all the characteristics of a Liverpool forward.
With 83 goals so far in 168 appearances and finishing top scorer in the SPFL on probably one of his worst seasons to date, there is no doubt Edouard is a talented footballer as Celtic fans well know.
But the question that all Celtic fans want the answer to is, will he stay or will he go? I’m sure we will get that answer before 31st August.
