“It wouldn’t surprise me” – Top podcaster’s Bold striker update

Never have I known a striker to split Celtic fans opinions since the days of Georgios Samaras. Samaras was definitely a Marmite forward. You either loved him or hated him. Me? I never loved him or hated him. I just thought he was lazy and that is something I cannot stand in professional footballer and he only got a contract extension because of that one game when he destroyed the now dead Rangers team at Ibrox.

So when it comes to Leigh Griffiths, I’m kind of in the same mind frame. What he done last season was unforgiveable. Well that’s not strictly true. Of course it’s forgivable, it just still hurts.

Out of all the Celtic players you would have thought that he understood how much the ten meant to the fans, so to return to pre season training in the condition he did, yeah, I suppose THAT is unforgivable.

Back to the point. Should Griffiths be offered a contract extension? Some say yes. Some say no. Speaking on ACSOM podcast, Paul John Dykes firmly believes the enigmatic striker SHOULD be dealt in by Ange Postecoglou and he makes a bold prediction on the strikers future, “It was a difficult period for everybody but he wasn’t being played, because Neil Lennon didn’t think he was fit enough.

“He argued the fact that he was fit enough. He was left behind on the preseason tour of France.

“And what I believe is that the way the club are going at the moment, I think Leigh Griffiths will be given another contract.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if he was part and parcel with the starting lineup in 28 days time for the European qualifier.”

And this is the thing. Celtic are so light up top it is hard to argue NOT giving Griffiths that contract extension. But is that reason enough?

I genuinely want Griffiths to succeed. Because if he succeeds it means he is scoring and if he is scoring, more often than not Celtic are winning.

“Now We Can Get Cracking” – Postecoglou Ready To Get To Work

Ange Postecoglou landed in Glasgow this afternoon and was bullish as he told of his delight at being able to get started at Celtic Park.

It seems like an age since Postecoglou was named as the next Celtic gaffer as the big Australians self isolation period ends and hopefully now Celtic fans can look forward to seeing what their new boss can bring to the club.

Speaking to the official Celtic website, Postecoglou said, “It’s great to be here,” he said. “It’s been a tough three weeks to get here but I’m super happy to be here now.

‘It’s been a bit of a whirlwind and I knew it wouldn’t sink in that I’m the new Celtic manager until I got here. Now I can get cracking and start working.’

Ange Postecoglou: Now we can get cracking |

“I got to meet everyone and put everything in place that we need to. It’s been fantastic. I already had some familiarity with it but it’s a great set-up. The people here are fantastic and I’m looking forward to working with everyone. Everyone keeps warning me about the weather but it all looks pretty beautiful at the moment.”

There is no doubt that there is much work to be getting on with and the Celtic fans will be especially keen to see some new faces come through the Parkhead gates in time for the Champions League qualifiers which start in less than a month.

Hopefully now, the transfer rumours will become transfer facts as The Age of Ange begins.

Griffiths slams Lennon in “I was Fit” Rap

Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths was the subject of much criticism last season. His much documented troubles prior to last seasons disastrous bid for ten titles in a row, Griffiths has hit back at his former manager in an appearance on the BBC’s Euro 2020 program.

Griffiths claims that if what Lennon was claiming (he wasn’t fit) was true, then why was he selected to sit on the bench,  “I’m fit. I said it towards the end of last season, if you’re fit enough to be on the bench then you’re fit enough to play games.

“That’s what was coming out of the club but I’m thinking to myself, if you’re not fit then you’re not going to be part of the squad until you are.

“That’s my take on it. You’d have to ask the coaches at Celtic or Lenny why he didn’t think I was fit.

Griffiths has never rediscovered the form he had under Ronny Deila when he scored an incredible forty goals in one season back in 2015/16.

Since then, in the last five seasons, he has scored 51 goals, a woeful average of 10 per season. No the form of a regular SPFL striker, never mind a Celtic one.

Celtic are clearly looking to reinforce the striking department with the imminent departure of Odsonne Edouard, Griffiths may get a chance of redemption under new boss Ange Postecoglou, but if he repeats the antics of last pre season, you can be sure that Postecoglou will have no hesitation in showing the former Scotland striker the door.

Fan media reports West Ham have snatched Celtic starlet

We all thought with Ange Postecoglou being appointed, these kinds of stories would be a thing of the past.

With Celtic losing many budding young stars this season to Germany and England, it seems that trend will not be bucked anytime soon.

Reports from Hammers News seems to suggest that Armstrong Okoflex will be the next young Hoops star to leave Celtic Park as they cite a ‘source’ claiming the deal is already done.

Speaking to The West Ham Way podcast, this source has claimed, “We have signed one player – I think he’s due to be announced soon – and the guy is called Armstrong Okoflex – which is a quality name.”

“He plays for Celtic and is a former Arsenal youth player and he’s actually played a couple of times for Celtic.

“This winger, the Celtic lad, is meant to be potentially one for the first team as well, if he can kick on a little bit, so it’s interesting that we’ve done that.”

Okoflex came to Celtic with some pedigree but has as yet, failed to make a significant impact on the first team. But with new boss, Ange Postecoglou seemingly extremely keen to focus on youth development, it could be that the youngster may yet get his chance.

The only problem is, his contract is due to expire at the end of this month so if extensions are being handed out, maybe Okoflex should be top of that list?

“Bloody Ludicrous” – Lennon’s COVID Defence Obliterated By Talksport Shock Jock Live On Air

Neil Lennon took to Talksport to bump his gums again about the injustice he felt Celtic received after the clubs Dubai trip in January and hinted at double standards by Government officials in respect to the latest Billy Gilmour diagnosis and the fact not one of the Scottish squad were not identified as a “close contact”.

Speaking today on the English radio station, Lennon said, “We got shutdown. We had photographs of us being on the bus and the train and the government shut us down.

“Sixteen of us had to isolate in the end which we felt was ridiculous as we had followed all the protocols.

“This is a similiar situation, but there doesn’t seem to be any intervention from government officials on this one.”

But co host of the show, Simon Jordan was having none of Lennon’s excuses and ripped into the former Celtic gaffer, “You guys were bloody ludicrous going on that trip.

“Just because someone tells you that you can do something it doesn’t mean it’s wise to do it.

“The fact of the matter is we’re right in the eye of a pandemic, there was only going to be a downside. There was no upside here for you.

“Do you know what happens with your principles when you die, Neil? Your principles die with you.

“Sometimes your principles aren’t worth upholding for an area of exposure.”

“And I looked at it, despite the fact I like you and I wanted success for you, I though it was a bad move.

Lennon still will not accept responsibility for a trip that, although was within the rules, was an unmitigated PR disaster. Like many of his appearances on media shows and written columns, Lennon simply does not like to should any blame whatsoever for his part in a shambolic season that has left a massive stain on his reputation with the Celtic fans.

“He’s a terrific player!” – Oz Media Says Pundit drops Celtic link To £7.5m Midfielder

As Celtic continue to be linked with various players one pundit who had nothing but positivity for the next name touted for a move to Parkhead because of current boss Ange Postecoglou’s Australian background.

Quoting The Football Insider, Australian media outlet Sen, have reported former Scotland boss Alex McLeish highly recommends Celtic to sign Aaron Mooy.

McLeish spoke glowingly about the Australian international and said has “great football nous”, “I saw them (Celtic) linked with Aaron Mooy. Did he start at Man City?”

“Then he went to Huddersfield and then Brighton. He’s a terrific player and the type of player Celtic should be going for.

“He’s got energy to burn. Any time I’ve seen the guy, he’s very difficult to dispossess on the ball.

“I’m not saying he’s a dribbler but when he gets the ball and just when you think you’re going to tackle him, he’s already given it to somebody else. One of his teammates gets it and normally it’s a good pass.

“He is a guy with great football nous.”

It seems Celtic could do well to capture this exciting player but could the asking price and age be a problem for the Celtic hierarchy as he doesn’t seem to fit their usual transfer model?

Celtic’s quest to find a left back since Kieran Tierney quit the club for a £25m move to Arsenal has been a fruitless one.

With Boli Bolingoli, Greg Taylor and eventually Diego Laxalt all having tried (with two failing) Celtic have still to find the right man to fill that empty void.

Greg Taylor, admittedly, has equipped himself fairly well whenever called upon and he could, given time, be the man to stake his claim for the left sided jersey, but with lack of competition for the role and question marks over his overall ability, it seems that the club are still in the hunt for a left sided full back.

Up step Aaron Hickey from Bologna. Hickey has his opportunity to sign for the Hoops last summer but eventually chose the style and glamour of the Serie A.

The Golden Boy nominee, having made just ten appearances for the Italian cracks had a shoulder injury cruelly put an end to his season and it seems with Bologna in the market to sign Alexander Kholorov, coudl Hickey’s time be up in Italy?

A report out today claims Hickey is “aware” of Celtic’s interest but it seems the young Scotsman is only interested in pursuing his career in the Serie A, “Well I am fully aware that there has been interest.

I can see it all – but I have just got to keep my head down and keep my full focus on Bologna just now.”

Hickey certainly is a prospect and highly regarded as a quality left back but can he really afford to turn down the chance to sign for Celtic again? Only time will tell.

It’s the worst kept secret in football however when it was first mentioned not many people could believe it.

Olivier Ntcham, once one of the hottest midfielders in Scotland was being let go by Celtic. On a free.

The Frenchman was subject to a £14m bid not so long ago and it was apparently rejected by the club as they made the steps to secure the first team for the push for the now infamous ten in a row.

Now Celtic are faced with letting him go for free as they seemingly will not take up the extra years option on the Frenchman’s contract.

Greek reporter Giannis Chorianopoulos, has said that AEK Athens are in the driving seat to land the off form midfield man for FREE as his contract will expire on the 1st July

Ntcham has suffered from poor form this season and was widely known as one of the offending first team players then boss, Neil Lennon fingered as a “wantaway” star after the notorious Ferncvaros press conference.

There is no doubt Ntcham has ability and talent, but with his ill fated loan spell at Marseille, it seems it’s his attitude that is on question.

It will be interesting to track his career should the move to Greece get pushed through but his spell at Celtic Park will forever be sullied by his antics as Celtic chased history and that infamous 10 in a row.

Celtic poised to make terrible £1m deal. What were the board thinking?

It’s been one of those transfer stories that has been indicative of Celtic’s season. The news that Ryan Christie had only one year left on his contract, although still not ideal, was met with derision when it was finally made public that the year was in fact just six months.

Reports today are linking the Scotland midfielder with a move to the French league as the tax haven of Monaco or the vineyards of Nice look to be laying in wait.

Christie was once linked with a £10m move just twelve months ago to Nice, but Celtic rebuffed any advances from the French cracks but with the mid table team ready to return this summer with a £1m bid, the Celtic board will now be kicking themselves that they didn’t cash in last summer.

With Christie’s contract ready to expire, incredibly, in January, the Celtic board have no option but to accept a ridiculously low fee for a player that was once the hottest property in Scottish football.

Questions need to be asked of the board at how they allowed the Christie contract situation come to this. How could they have allowed a contract to be agreed that expires midway through a season?

How could they reject a £10m offer for a player that they knew was in the final year of his contract? We will probably never get these answers but lessons need to be learned.

With many Celtic stars looking for the Parkhead exit door this summer, one man that has made no secret of his intentions to move is Norwegian international defender Kristoffer Ajer.

Ajer has claimed Celtic agreed to allow a move this transfer window as long as he agreed to stay and help the Hoops quest for the ten.

The campaign for the unprecedented tenth title in a row fell flat on its face and now Ajer is looking for the Parkhead club to keep up their side of the bargain.

And it seems the move is in full flow as English media outlet Chronicle Live reports that Ajer is about to sign for Newcastle United for a meagre £6m.

Granted, Ajer is entering the last year of his contract but £6m? Come on!

The Celtic board would be guilty of serious gross incompetence if they allowed Ajer to leave for such a paltry fee but I guess the only saving grace is with Ange Postecoglou’s reputation for taking no nonsense, hopefully he would step in and not allow such a derisory bid for one of Celtics top stars.
