£3m bid “plot” by Celtic for Serie A star

With the transfer rumour mill in full swing it seems like new Celtic boss, Ange Postecoglou, has been busy behind the scenes looking to strengthen the first team.

According to Scottish media reports, Celtic have already plotted to bring young Scottish defender, Aaron Hickey, to Glasgow and that a £3m bid is imminent.

Hickey was the subject of much speculation last summer and was tipped to join the Hoops from Hearts, but the young Scottish defender picked the Italian Serie A as his choice of destination and completed his move to Bologna instead.

Having made just 10 appearances for the Italian side before succumbing to a shoulder injury, Hickey now seems destined to join the Glasgow giants this summer with new Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou making his move.

Hickey addressed the speculation and said he was “aware” of interest and that he wants to keep focused on Bologna for the time being, ‘Well, I am fully aware there has been interest. I can see it all, but I have just got to keep my head down and keep my full focus on Bologna just now.”

With the Hoops struggling to replace the quality of Kieran Tierney since his departure to Arsenal, could Hickey be the man to finally step in and fill that void?
