Griffiths slams Lennon in “I was Fit” Rap

Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths was the subject of much criticism last season. His much documented troubles prior to last seasons disastrous bid for ten titles in a row, Griffiths has hit back at his former manager in an appearance on the BBC’s Euro 2020 program.

Griffiths claims that if what Lennon was claiming (he wasn’t fit) was true, then why was he selected to sit on the bench,  “I’m fit. I said it towards the end of last season, if you’re fit enough to be on the bench then you’re fit enough to play games.

“That’s what was coming out of the club but I’m thinking to myself, if you’re not fit then you’re not going to be part of the squad until you are.

“That’s my take on it. You’d have to ask the coaches at Celtic or Lenny why he didn’t think I was fit.

Griffiths has never rediscovered the form he had under Ronny Deila when he scored an incredible forty goals in one season back in 2015/16.

Since then, in the last five seasons, he has scored 51 goals, a woeful average of 10 per season. No the form of a regular SPFL striker, never mind a Celtic one.

Celtic are clearly looking to reinforce the striking department with the imminent departure of Odsonne Edouard, Griffiths may get a chance of redemption under new boss Ange Postecoglou, but if he repeats the antics of last pre season, you can be sure that Postecoglou will have no hesitation in showing the former Scotland striker the door.
