“GOLDEN BOY” NOMINEE AWARE OF CELTIC INTEREST

Celtic’s quest to find a left back since Kieran Tierney quit the club for a £25m move to Arsenal has been a fruitless one.

With Boli Bolingoli, Greg Taylor and eventually Diego Laxalt all having tried (with two failing) Celtic have still to find the right man to fill that empty void.

Greg Taylor, admittedly, has equipped himself fairly well whenever called upon and he could, given time, be the man to stake his claim for the left sided jersey, but with lack of competition for the role and question marks over his overall ability, it seems that the club are still in the hunt for a left sided full back.

Up step Aaron Hickey from Bologna. Hickey has his opportunity to sign for the Hoops last summer but eventually chose the style and glamour of the Serie A.

The Golden Boy nominee, having made just ten appearances for the Italian cracks had a shoulder injury cruelly put an end to his season and it seems with Bologna in the market to sign Alexander Kholorov, coudl Hickey’s time be up in Italy?

A report out today claims Hickey is “aware” of Celtic’s interest but it seems the young Scotsman is only interested in pursuing his career in the Serie A, “Well I am fully aware that there has been interest.

I can see it all – but I have just got to keep my head down and keep my full focus on Bologna just now.”

Hickey certainly is a prospect and highly regarded as a quality left back but can he really afford to turn down the chance to sign for Celtic again? Only time will tell.
