“WATCH THIS SPACE” – FORMER ARSENAL LEGENDS ADMIRATION FOR “EXCEPTIONAL” CELTIC TARGET

With the transfer rumour mill in full swing, the speculation regarding Celtic targets is hitting fever pitch, but none more so than in the forward areas.

With Celtic expecting to lose their star man and talisman, Odsonne Edouard to Leicester City in the coming weeks, one man has seemingly been earmarked to replace the Frenchman and he has been described as “exceptional”.

Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has been speaking about the interest in Charlie Wyke from the Parkhead club and what he said was very interesting indeed, Wyke is no Edouard but at the end of the day there is different ways to skin a cat.

“You do not always have to follow the same plan.

“I just think a good player in Wyke could go up there and play with better players and show another level of performance. I think he could have a real impact up there, I do.

“It is a case of watch this space. He has not played at that level but he has shown this season that he is a very good player.

“I think he will score goals, especially if you give him the right kind of service. He’s exceptional in the air.”

Wyke’s goal scoring record  last season in League 1 certainly was exceptional with 30 in 53 appearances and at only 28 years of age, the big Teesider is just entering his peak years.

If Celtic can get the deal over the line, especially as he is available on a free, this could turn out to be an excellent piece of business by Ange Postecoglou.
