With the transfer machine in full swing, Celtic have been linked with Australian goalkeeper Mat Ryan as Postecoglou targets an area of the team where serious strengthening is required.
Speaking on The Celtic Exchange podcast Tino, Miff and James cast their thoughts on various Celtic related subjects.
The boys are excited by the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as they cast their eye over the speculation that big Ange is looking to bring the experienced international to Paradise, Miff was glowing in his praise of Ryan, “I would be delighted with that as a signing. Put it this way, we would have been in a much better place if Mat Ryan was the Celtic goalkeeper last season.
“He’s better than Bain. He’s better than Barkas from my eyes when I’m watching football. Quite an athletic goalkeeper but not the tallest or the biggest if memory serves me right.
“But certainly quite a commanding presence and was a fairly reliable stick for Brighton when they progressed through to the Premier League and stayed there.
“I would say he’s in an similar bracket in terms of where his career is at like Forster. It would be coming up and playing regularly that would be the attraction coming up to Celtic to play for a coach that he knows.”
Ryan does seem like the answer to the question Celtic have been asking in terms of the goalkeeping position and hopefully, if this transfer move does go through, it will set the tone in terms of the quality Postecoglou is looking to bring to Celtic Park.
