AFRICAN MEDIA REPORT CELTIC “INTEREST” IN 90 CAP INTERNATIONAL STRIKER

As Celtic look to replace apparent outgoing striker Odsonne Edouard, they have been linked with Ghanaian international captain and striker Andre Ayew.

Ayew is available on a free after being released by Swansea since the Welsh club failed to secure their place in the mega bucks English Premier League after he 2-0 defeat by Brentford in May.

African media outlet Ghana Soccernet revealed Celtic’s supposed interest in the hitman as they negotiate the current transfer of Odsonne Edouard to Leicester City

Although not a prolific striker, Ayew did manage to score 17 goals in the English Championship last season but the experienced forward does have versatility as he is capable of playing as a winger on opposite sides of the pitch.

It does seem a strange link to make but I can see why as Celtic where linked with the big striker back in Brendan Rodgers reign when Ayew was five years younger, but even then, his goal scoring rate still wasn’t what many would call prolific.

With Celtic still officially manager less, there is no way to tell how much leverage there are in these rumours but is Ayew the man to replace the iconic Edouard? Not for me.
