Pat Bonner shares tremendous Jota moment that ‘typifies’ what this team is about

You know what I enjoy about Ange Postecoglou’s football team?

The flair and tenacity on the ball. It was never more apparent than on our third goal where we must have completed about thirty passes with no Hearts player touching the ball before Haksabanovic despatched a thunderous shot into the oppositions net.

But that wasn’t the only thing that former Celtic star Pat Bonner noticed last night.

Speaking on BBC Sportsound, Bonner said, “What typifies also is when you look at the goal that Jota races back and wins the ball back.

There is, in the main, a player who likes to get on the ball and be creative and all that, but the work rate that he showed to win the ball back to to eventually set up Kyogo’s goal, that typifies what’s in the team.”

And that is something we have seen more and more of from Jota in the last few weeks. Where Maeda is preferred for his work rate, Jota is picked for his flair.

But I have seen the Portuguese winger start to add pressing to his game over recent weeks because he knows, if the doesn’t then he could end up with more time on the bench.

It’s great to see and it adds another dimension to an already excellent players game.
