I think it is fair to say that when this player signed, he was one that split opinions amongst the Celtic fans.

Even at the start of his Hoops career, after a few outings Aaron Mooy was still held in the ‘wait and see’ category.

His first start for Celtic was in the 2-0 defeat to St Mirren in Paisley and for some, the jury was out. He was deemed not good enough.

But Ange Postecoglou saw something different in Mooy. He saw a player that he knew that if he got fit and playing regularly, we would be getting a player that will make a material difference to how we play.

And by God was he right.

Mooy has been fantastic since returning from World Cup duty and former Rangers midfielder, Barry Ferguson was waxing lyrical about his performances.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, Ferguson said, ” He’s up there in terms of form since he found his way into the Celtic team.

He is definitely the form midfielder not just his ability on the ball, he is finding the back of the net as well and which is difficult for a midfielder at times.

He’s definitely impressed me. We knew about him at Huddersfield, Brighton and big Oz [Craig Moore] spoke a number of times about him.

He’s an international, he’s got a lot of experience and it was just about getting him up to a level of fitness and now Celtic fans are starting to see, or have seen, over the last couple of months a top quality midfielder.” .

Unbelievable to think that Mooy was training at Auchenhowie to get his fitness up and Rangers failed to sign him because he didn’t fit their ‘player profile’.

I suppose they are correct. Mooy is not a clogger.
