“He used to talk about his money a lot” – Former Hearts star reveals classic Chris Sutton on field trolling

Big Sutton is the master of the mind games isn’t he?

At punditry, there is no one better than Chris at pressing the buttons of the Ibrox fans and their manager.

But it wasn’t just as a pundit the big Englishman used to use the dark arts of the mind games to get an advantage.

As a player, he was just as good at them. And former Celtic defender Steven Pressley reveals that when he was st Hearts, Sutton used to wind him up regularly.

Speaking on the Off the Record podcast, Pressley said, “We had some big personalities. [in the Scottish game]

“Some of the runs ins at that time.

“I remember Chris Sutton telling me constantly that I’ll be working till I’m about seventy. He’s not far off it by the way.

“He used to talk about his money a lot and that I would be working till I was 70 years of age.

“He’s actually quite right. I’m looking about seventy!”

Even as a player Sutton had his opponents on strings. The big man is just a natural wind up merchant.
