Celtic Park

Almost every Celtic player that Ange Postecgolou has signed has made a material difference to the team.

Joe Hart, Carl Starfelt, Jota and Kyogo are four names that instantly come to mind when you look at the first team squad.

But it is in Cameron Carter-Vickers that legendary USA striker Eric Wynalda believes that Celtic’s next captain is.

Wynalda earned 100 caps for the US scoring 34 goals and his club career spanned 20 years making 287 appearances and scoring 84 goals so he knows a thing or two about captains and what it takes to make it in the game.

Speaking on The Wonder Goal podcast, Eric Wynalda said, “Watching Cameron this year, and last for that matter, has been amazing.

His performances have earned him the captain’s band as well as multiple man of the match awards and team of the week selections.

“At 25-years-old the question really is where would be the next step for his career.

Celtic is a massive club and for a guy who has finally found a home after multiple loan stints, it might be very hard for him leave at this point.

High praise indeed and not a view that many fans will argue about.

CCV done a fine job stepping in for McGregor as the skipper and has shown real leadership qualities in Celtic’s back line.

A very fine player and one that Spurs must be kicking themselves for letting go.
